To understand the local-scale distribution of submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) and dissolved nutrients, a multiple-detector (222)Rn monitoring survey was undertaken along the Mt. Chokai volcanic coast in northern Japan. The surveys revealed that the highest SGD (calculated to be 6.2 × 10(4) m(3) d(-1), within an area of 2 × 10(4) m(2)) with the greatest nutrient fluxes (sum of NO(3)(-), NO(2)(-), and NH(4)(+) (DIN): 9.2 × 10(2) mol d(-1); PO(4)(3-) (DIP): 56 mol d(-1)) is present at the edge of the youngest volcanic lava flow in the area. Recharged groundwater transports nutrients through porous volcanic flows and discharges as SGD near shore. Our results demonstrate that the spatial distribution of SGD in the study area is closely regulated by the local geology and topography. Furthermore, we show that continuous (222)Rn monitoring with a multidetector system at boat speeds of 1-2 knots provides details at a scale one order of magnitude greater than has been reported previously. In addition, the results of our study suggest that SGD-borne DIP may play an important role in the important local oyster production.  相似文献

The ability of 13 strains of multi-stress-tolerant Issatchenkia orientalis yeast to produce ethanol was examined under different stress conditions, including conditions of elevated H2SO4 and Na2SO4 concentrations and increased heat. The MF-121 strain produced a significant amount of ethanol after the incubation in acidic media containing high concentrations of salt, e.g., 50 g/l Na2SO4 at pH 2.0, or at high temperatures, e.g., 43°C, when compared with other strains.  相似文献

The influence of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on low frictional performance of CNx coatings with 100 nm thickness having nitrogen contents of 9%, 14% and 19% deposited on Si(100) substrate by ion beam mixing was investigated in N2 atmosphere environment. Three UV lights of 254, 312 and 365 nm were used to irradiate the surface of CNx / Si(100) for 60 min. The changes of N / C ratio and atomic binding energy in the coating were analysed using Auger electron spectroscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. The friction coefficient of Si3N4 ball sliding against CNx was measured by a pin‐on‐disc tribometer, and wear tracks were analysed by the transmission electron microscope image. The results showed that UV irradiation on CNx coating can decrease the critical frictional cycles for low friction coefficient and that the mechanism is due to the formation of graphite‐like structure in the topmost CNx coating. Hemophilia B is caused by a deficit or decreased activity of factor IX. Mutation in factor IX is made up of a majority of amino acid substitutions. We examined the relation between the activation level of factor IX and the category of amino acid substitution with regression analysis. As parameters, we used four physical-chemical parameters of amino acids and Dayhoff’s PAM matrix. In addition, the average of the activation level with the same amino acid substitution was used for the analysis. We analyzed the relationship between variations containing cysteine or factor IX’s seven regions and activity levels. The production of dye-decolorizing peroxidase (DyP) was investigated by cultivating Geotrichum candidum Dec1 using molasses as a carbon source. Molasses at concentrations greater than 10 g·l−1 was found to increase the decolorization activity of the culture broth toward dye, reactive blue 5 mainly because the amount of enzyme produced was enhanced. However, complete inhibition of DyP activity by molasses was observed at the concentration of 20 g·l−1, indicating that the inhibitory effect of molasses on the culture broth activity to decolorize the dye was involved. When the culture broth was diluted 25 times, the dye-decolorizing activity was 7 times as much as that of non-diluted culture broth. The molasses fractions separated by gel chromatography (300–400 ml and 400–500 ml fractions) completely inhibited the purified DyP. On the basis of these results, we propose a scheme to control both positive and negative effects of molasses on the dye decolorization process.  相似文献

A method for calculating the single‐step response of five‐phase hybrid stepping motors is obtained. The effects of winding connecting methods—(1) star‐bipolar SB, (2) pentagon PD, and (3) new pentagon NP—on the single‐step response are investigated. By application of the above calculation method, the continuous rotating characteristics are studied. It is found that the maximum slewing pulse rate of NP is higher than that of SB and PD connections, and that the variation of the rotor speed at high speed with the SB and PD connections is larger than that with the NP connection. Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films were prepared by sulfurizing precursors deposited by electroplating. The precursors (Cu/Sn/Zn stacked layers) were deposited by electroplating sequentially onto Mo-coated glass substrates. Aqueous solutions containing copper sulfate for Cu plating, tin sulfate for Sn plating and zinc sulfate for Zn plating were used as the electrolytes. The precursors were sulfurized by annealing with sulfur at temperatures of 300, 400, 500 and 600 °C in an N2 gas atmosphere. The X-ray diffraction peaks attributable to CZTS were detected in thin films sulfurized at temperatures above 400 °C. A photovoltaic cell using a CZTS thin film produced by sulfurizing an electroplated Sn-rich precursor at 600 °C exhibited an open-circuit voltage of 262 mV, a short-circuit current of 9.85 mA/cm2 and an efficiency of 0.98%.  相似文献

A relationship between emission characteristics of Ba atom as an emitter material and temperature distributions of an electrode in a fluorescent lamp is described, which is measured by using laser-induced fluorescence and black-body radiation method, respectively. In a virgin lamp, a hot spot observed at the electrode edge connected to the power supply is the main source of Ba atom emission. In a long-term-used lamp, it is shown that Ba atom emission, thermionic electron emission in cathode half-cycle and electron collection in anode half-cycle are most active on the hot spot appearing on the center of the electrode.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene glycol)-block-polylactide (PEG-PLA) nanoparticles were prepared through the oil-in-water (O/W, ethyl acetate/water) emulsion technique using oil-soluble PEG-PLA in the presence of water-soluble PEG-PLA as a surfactant. The particle diameter decreased with increasing water-soluble PEG-PLA concentration, the smallest averaged diameter was 75 nm. From these results, it was found that water-soluble PEG-PLA acted as a surfactant which prevents further coalescence of droplets. In addition, the particles diameter decreased with increasing hydrophile-lipophile balance of oil-soluble PEG-PLA in the absence of water-soluble PEG-PLA. In contrast, the particle diameter was constant in the presence of water-soluble PEG-PLA. Therefore, the capability of water-soluble PEG-PLA as a surfactant was more excellent than that of oil-soluble PEG-PLA.  相似文献
